European Championship of American Quarter Horses 2015 – These are the judges and stewards


July 23, 2015. Just like in Oklahoma City, competitors at the European Championship of American Quarter Horses will be showing to five judges in the preliminaries. Plus, they will be able to win AQHA points for their placements. This makes the European Championship the first and only opportunity worldwide to win points under five judges with just one ride. All in all, there will be six judges to create a more relaxed schedule for the judges‘ team. Five of them will be judging while each of them can take a break every once in a while with the sixth judge jumping in.


These are the judges:


Karen McCuistion, USA (AQHA, NRHA, NRCHA, AAA, NSBA-CAT 1, FEI “I” Reining, USEF “R” Reining, PHBA und APHA)

She has been involved in the horse industry for over 35 years and has judged for 25. McCuistion has judged many major events such as the AQHA World Show (6 times), AQHYA World, NRCHA Futurity (3 times), NRCHA Stakes (twice), the PHBA (3 times), NRHA Derby, NRHA Futurity, AQHA European Championships (twice), German Championships (twice), Dutch Championships, Swedish Nationals, Italian Reining Derby, APHA World Show (three times ) and the APHA European Championships.   Karen actively participates in the industry as a trainer, judge, exhibitor, coach, 4-H Horse show superintendent, serves as a member of the AQHA Animal Welfare commission, AQHA Steward Task Force, NRHA Stewards Committee- Chairman, NRHA Responsible Animal Care Task Force- Chairman.



Bill Enk started judging in 1969 and has since judged major events in the United States. These include the Snaffle Bit Futurity, the NCHA Cutting Futurity, the AQHA World Show, the All American Congress and the Road to the Horse. Since 2003 Bill has been the Director of of Judges for the National Reined Cowhorse Association. He participates in Judging seminars for the NRCHA and AQHA.


Ricky Bordignon, Italy (AQHA / NCHA / NRHA / NSBA / NRCHA)

Ricky Bordignon is judge, AQHA Director and AQHA Professional Horseman. He is multiple European Champion in Western Pleasure, Cutting , Reining and Working Cow Horse , double Futurity Champion and bronze medalist at the USET Festival of Champion GLADSTONE NJ USA


Sandy Jirkovsky, USA (AQHA / NSBA / NRHA / NRCHA / APHA / USEF / ApHC)

Sandy Jirkovsky has judged the American Quarter Horse Congress, the European AQHA World Championships, the NRHA Futurity, the European Reining Futurity, the  Sun Country Circuit,  Battle in the Saddle, March to the Arch, and several of the major stock shows. Sandy and her husband  Jim own and operate J Bar S Training and specialize in training all around horses and riders. Sandy is a member of the AQHA Professional Horseman and has been an AQHA judge for several years

Clark Parker, USA (AQHA / NSBA)

Clark has held many leadership positions in the horse world, along with holding an AQHA judges card for over 40 years.  Clark has judged the AQHA World Show, AQHA Youth World, All American Quarter Horse Congress, AQHA Select World Show, and numerous other Quarter Horse Shows and Futurities.  Clark has also judged many horse shows in various other countries. Clark is a Lifetime Member of the American Quarter Horse Association. Clark has served in the following positions both state and nationally, in helping support and promote the progression of the American Quarter Horse. Clark recently received the Lifetime Achievement Award” for the American Quarter Horse Association, and “Professional Horseman of the Year” 2013


Vreni Schmid, Suisse (AQHA / APHA / NRHA / NSBA / EWU)

Vreni Schmid has its AQHA  judges card since 2004. Since then she has judged numerous national and international shows and championships. She was traveling all around in Europe to judge . Vreni has judged the European Quarter Horse Experience 2008, the DQHA - North, West- and Southfuturity , the Dutch , and Austrian Championships, the Belgium, German and Bavarian Championship. Vreni Schmid is also breeder of American Quarter Horses and owns three of them.

Lisa John

Lisa John is from the United Kingdom and based in the South West of England.  She runs her own western riding school catering for all levels and experience. Since 2008 Lisa has been an approved AQHA Show Manager for both the AQHA UK and Fenland Shows and was approved as an AQHA Show Steward in 2013.

Marvin “Butch” Carse Jr.

Butch Carse is one of the original AQHA Stewards. He is also a Steward for the National Reining Horse Association and a Chief Steward for the Federal Equestrian International.  Butch has stewarded at the AQHA World Shows, N.R.H.A. Futurity and the World Equestrian Games.  He has been an AQHA judge for 25 years and has been a judge for all 3 AQHA World Shows, along with the European Quarter Horse Championships.
